I have a symbol LS2208 barcode scanner that has a DB9 serial connector. because my pc doesn’t support that port, i purchased a USB – DB9 connector and i cannot get it to work even with the driver software that came with the adapter. Does any individual know of a driver that might make this perform?

I think you need a seperate power provide for the scanner, there may possibly be a socket on its serial plug, or on a plastic blob on the cable with a socket.

I can not keep in mind the voltage offhand but believe it may be about 5Vdc.

Just had yet another thought, I think you just have to alter the cable on the scanner for a USB one. Theres a wee hole on the handle you poke a paperclip in to release it, but no clue how much the new cable would price
